BMB Renewables Ltd invests in selected power plants, producing energy from renewable sources. The preferred technologies are wind power, photo-voltaic (solar) power and CSP (Concentrated Solar Power) also known as Solar-Thermal.

The core business involves the acquisition of existing power plants, connected to the grid, through the purchase of the shares in the SPV’s (Special Purpose Vehicles) in which the assets are held. This structure means that all necessary permits and contracts for the operation of the asset, are automatically included in the acquisition. In addition, it also enables us to take over the existing senior debt facility tied to the asset.

A comprehensive due-diligence exercise is implemented before the acquisition of the SPV’s, in order to ensure compliance with all legal and contractual obligations as well as ensuring the long-term technical and operational viability of the asset.

In order to be able to take advantage of attractive investment propositions, it is often appropriate to secure assets during the later stages of development, before they have been built. However, in such situations, we become involved only when the sites have been secured and all necessary permits for the construction of the asset have been obtained.

In particularly advantageous situations, we also envisage establishing joint ventures with successful developers, in order to allow us to become involved with projects at an early stage of their development. Such an arrangement would be discussed and agreed with our equity investors.
